Camper tour

Cora did a video tour of the camper, and we took a few photos. We've been loving our mobile living space. So far, it's met our needs and the kids have settled into something of a nightly routine. Here's a video: https://youtu.be/Kd4z0nZjFME

Ocracoke

As I was researching campgrounds, I heard of a lovely place on the coast that was only accessible by ferry. The fun part was, this ferry could transport our van and trailer! And it's really cheap! So we made our reservations for Ocracoke campground and boarded the ferry! Once we got underway, we could walk around the boat and enjoy the views from the upper deck. It was just over two hours out to the island, and we thoroughly enjoyed the ride. The island is home to about 500 year-round residents, but has several thousand during the summer months. Between one-half and three miles wide, and about fifteen miles long, the island is a perfect beach destination. Our rather primitive campground was just over the dunes from the Atlantic ocean! We had two full days on the island, and we spent most of it on the beach! There were a ton of lovely shells, and hardly any people on the stunning beaches. ...

Congaree National Park

Our first day in South Carolina we took a short drive to Congaree National Park. I had never heard of it before, but I'm so glad we went! Evidently, it's known for its mosquito population. Thankfully, it was a "mild" day. The cypress trees were beautiful! We took the boardwalk and enjoyed reading the information booklet along the way. This area was a haven for run-away slaves, and later a hide-out for bootleggers. It's not the most inviting of places to settle! We watched several water snakes glide through the mucky black waters and were told there are wild boar. E and T tried to imitate the "cypress knees" that stuck up all over! The most hilarious part were the caterpillars that lined the railings most of the way. They would "dance" when you got too close! The kids did their booklets and were sworn in as Junior Rangers.
