Travel always takes 50% longer than you expect.
Why can I not remember this and prepare?
We drove the last 40 miles in the dark on windy mountain roads, set up in the dark, hurriedly made dinner and tossed the grumpy kids in their bunks to sleep before we crashed ourselves.
But we woke up to this view. (just a bit to the right down river was our trailer)
The Lord is good. We started the day setting up camp and no one was in good spirits. We had lingering coughs, it was cold, and there was no phone service. (just a bit of slow wifi near the restrooms).
But we love being outdoors, and our time at Villanueva state park along the Pecos River was good for our souls. It was an excellent beginning to our journeys.
