Alligators!!

Our final day in New Orleans we spent aboard a flat-bottomed boat floating down the bayou and being adventurous with fresh seafood.
We were hoping to see local wildlife, and we were not disappointed!
We all gained an appreciation for the beauty of swamps and bayous.
our first big alligator sighting!!
Our tour guide had numerous stories to tell about his alligator hunting days, but most interesting was the fact that alligators love marshmallows!
He would toss them into the water, and the alligators would swarm around the boat to get them!  It was awesome to see them up close in the wild.
Evidently this old house is now inhabited by dozens of snakes.  We did not stop to see.
There were so many fishing boats docked.  The kids asked a lot of questions about how they worked.
There were some leisure boats as well.
After the boat ride, we checked out the seafood market.  We were feeling adventurous, I guess!
Fresh shrimp for dinner!
I asked for recommendations on cooking, and we got to work.
It was a hit!
We might decide to have a shrimp boil again.  But we will probably get our shrimp already deveined!
