Our next stop was outside New Orleans! We camped at Bayou Sengatte State Park, just a few miles from the city. It was beautiful, with a four minute walk down a boardwalk across the swamp to the bathrooms!
We've decided we love the beach. We also needed to do "something significant" in Mississippi so we could put the state sticker on our map.
We were the only ones on the Waveland Beach for a while, but it was a delightful day once the sun came out. Our schedule had been packed in Houston, so a slower pace was nice.
We were fascinated by all the houses on "stilts" (for hurricane flooding). Even the bathrooms for the beach were up 3 flights of stairs on a platform balanced on concrete pillars.
The water was warm, and shallow enough for the young kids to go far out. We're finding our groove for beach days. 😁
They did not get their love of the water from me.
