After our time near Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon, we headed back East. We needed to be home for Spring break: Dr appointments, orthodontist, vet, and a few small repairs and additions to the camper.
Along the route was the Petrified Forest National Park, so we made it our lunch stop. It's not so much a forest as it is a pile of beautiful rocks in the desert. It was good for passing through, but I wouldn't make it a vacation destination!
We were back on the road, planning to drive until we were tired, then sleep in a rest area along the long road back.
The roads in this part of the country resemble a rusted out washboard, and the tires on our trailer were fairly worn when we bought it. It wasn't too surprising when I noticed bits of rubber flying off as we drove.
Fortunately, we were just at an exit with lots of open space for changing a tire.
A quick change and we were going again, but we now had a date with the tire shop for the next morning.
